The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark

Director: Stephen Crandall
Set Design: Jasmine Shannon
Light Design: Tana Roberson
With our production of Hamlet, it was important for our production to convey the importance of class distinctions in the Danish Renaissance but also to be relatable to our audience--what we call Renaissance chic. To that end, Claudius, Gertrude and the other conservative characters' costumes reflect the Danish Renaissance. Hamlet, Horatio and other more rebellious characters are more modern in their dress with Renaissance touches. Many male characters will be played by women but as pants roles to help maintain the conservative gender roles of the Renaissance.
